DutiesDuties included:
(1) Provides quality patient-centered care to adults age 18-65 and older adults age 65+, as assigned by ACOS of Primary Care.
(2) Assesses Veterans by utilizing advanced clinical judgment and physical assessment skills. Identifies acute/non-acute/chronic health problems.
(3) Ensures that safe, efficient, and high quality healthcare is delivered within the department.
(4) Ensures appropriate initial evaluation, treatment, and consultation, as well as documentation, consistent with current VHA Directive
(5) For admissions to the inpatient units, will ensure a physician-to-physician conversation regarding the need for admission, including diagnoses, assessment and recommendations.
(6) Demonstrate sound decision making skills, both clinical and administrative, which bring credit to the profession and serve to enhance the distinctive and contributory role of physicians.
(7) Daily care of patients also entails regular interaction with nursing, coordination of consultations and care and facilitation of diagnostic studies and therapeutic procedures.
(8) Other vital roles include: communication with patients and their families, patient education, discharge planning and communication with outpatient providers, arranging follow up, preparing discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and ensuring communication during hand-offs of care.
(9) Ensures a sign-out to the oncoming physician to ensure an informed transition of care; coordinate with the admitting physician and consultants to organize diagnostic and treatment plans for all patients pending admission.
(10) Maintain appropriate clinical privileges in order to fulfill the duties of assignment within Primary Care Service.

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted,ORSchools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) of the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, facility officials must verify with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) that the applicant has met requirements for certification, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate, if claimed by the applicantLicensure and Registration. Physicians must possess a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.Residency Training. Physicians must have completed residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA), in the list published for the year the residency was completed,OROther residencies or their equivalents which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training.English Language Proficiency.
