**Description**

**Major Responsibilities**

* Sweeps, mops, and polishes floors. May be required to operate a power scrubber to clean floors.

* Removes and disposes trash from all areas. Breaks down and bundles carton boxes for recycling; places boxes in compactor.

* Cleans common areas, including tables, chairs, countertops, drinking fountains, doors, windows (inside and outside), refrigerators, microwaves, sinks, and eye wash stations. Uses cleansers and machinery in a safe manner according to manufacturers specifications.

* Understands and demonstrates Essendants Core Values.

* Sweeping aisles and detail cleaning.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

**Skills/Knowledge Required**

* Ability to perform all required tasks in the function according to established safety rules and guidelines.

* Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and controlled manner.

* Ability to perform all tasks in a safe manner, following all safety rules and guidelines.

* Ability to understand simple directions (verbal and written) in English.

**Education and Experience**

* High School diploma or GED equivalent required.

* Janitorial/custodial experience preferred.
