This program is part of the DoD SkillBridge Initiative, offering transitioning service members hands-on experience in Equinix’s data center operations within the IBX data centers.This program is exclusively for Military Spouse Fellows or Active-duty U.S. military personnel transitioning out of the military to civilian workforce. Ideal start dates are late February through March.Job SummaryData Centers are considered Critical Facilities that support essential services. In this role, you will complete repairs, preventative maintenance, and routine installations of Critical Facility infrastructure. This may involve Electrical/Electrical trades, HVAC, and other skilled mechanical trades.ResponsibilitiesYou will perform site inspections and supervise the building and Data Center alarmsPerform preventative maintenance on on-site infrastructure or lead vendorsUndertake repairs and corrective maintenanceDemonstrate extensive knowledge of critical infrastructure such as UPS, generator, BMS, chillers, life safety systemsComplete site logs and data gathering for basic permits, such as MOPs and scriptsRespond to on-site incidents and act as neededComplete routine work requests and circuit installationsProvide assistance during critical maintenance activitiesCollaborate within the department and provide recommendations for general maintenanceCarry out basic infrastructure projectsWith 24/7 operations, be flexible to work shifts, off-schedule, cover for colleagues, and respond to emergenciesQualificationsMust meet all eligibility requirements outlined in DoD Instruction 1322.29 and NAVADMIN 222/15.Technical associate degree, military-technical school, or civilian technical trade school completionEducation level: Working on bachelor’s degree or relevant experience with 1-4 years in Mechanical Engineering or related fieldComprehensive knowledge of critical infrastructure (UPS, generator, BMS, chillers, life safety systems)Coursework in HVAC design or heat transfer and thermodynamicsKnowledge of HVAC testing and balancing methodologiesKnowledge of IT hardware and other data center operations functionsGood time management, ability to multi-task, and sustain focus on long tasksAbility to communicate thoughts and technical ideasInitiative, enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, teamwork, and creativityAbility to lift 50 lbsStrong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in evolving environmentsStrong interpersonal and communication skills for team-based workPresentation skills with colleagues and clients at all levelsSkillBridge internship positions are open to active duty and transitioning military members.
