Overview Airport Facilities Coordinator at City of Atlanta. This position coordinates planning, construction, remodeling, custodial, landscape maintenance, security, and building maintenance activities for department facilities. Supervises and reviews the work of maintenance, custodial, and security personnel and/or contractors to ensure work is completed effectively and on schedule. Assists in planning, development, and installation of new sites, facilities, and buildings. This is an experienced, skilled, or technical level role with limited guidance or review. May be part of a general or specialized work team. Works under minimal supervision and may assist in training lower-level staff. Responsibilities Plan, organize, assign, supervise, and review work of subordinate personnel to ensure quality work completed on schedule within safe conditions. Schedule, plan, and issue work orders, inspections, and notices to complete assignments and building inspections on schedule using available communication tools. Communicate orally and in writing with management, peers, subordinates, department employees, and the public to arrange, schedule, and oversee building maintenance activities. Inspect construction projects to ensure contractors conform to contract documents, building codes, and timelines. Provide project and contractor oversight to ensure professional services align with contracts (architectural, engineering, construction, operational). Respond to emergency calls for assigned work areas and perform emergency repairs during off-duty hours as needed. Coordinate and attend meetings to exchange information on issues, programs, and projects; present drawings and sketches as needed. Coordinate repair, replacement, troubleshooting, identification, and correction of maintenance problems within facilities. Instruct and train new staff on proper work methods, safety requirements, procedures, and policies through one-on-one interaction and demonstrations. Assist in development of the unit's budget and funding requests; assist with annual section budget using prior year allocations and current guidelines. Inventory equipment and modular furniture to maintain records and allocation of components. Details Facilities Coordinator will be required to work any of three shifts or combinations thereof based on project oversight requirements. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully. It is not exhaustive. Knowledge of building construction, maintenance, security, custodial services, landscape maintenance, and repair; ability to supervise staff and vendors. Knowledge of building and safety codes; knowledge of architectural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, civil and structural disciplines; knowledge of related tools, equipment, materials, and trade practices. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and schematics; ability to develop cost-effective building design solutions; ability to estimate construction costs; ability to prepare construction documents. Proficiency with computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office); strong written and verbal communication; time management; coordinating personnel and resources; drafting and AutoCAD familiarity. Ability to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs; build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization; work under pressure; adapt to changing schedules and priorities. Ability to interpret instructions and building and safety codes; operate state vehicles; review shop drawings for contract compliance; produce working drawings and specifications. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience High School Diploma 35 years of surveying, engineering, maintenance, or construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Preferred Education & Experience Completion of an appropriate technical course or associate degree related to facilities maintenance or similar area, or 3 years as a Facilities Maintenance Technician or similar role. Licenses and Certifications Valid state-issued drivers license is required. Airside and Landside Coordinators must obtain the Airport Movement Area (AMA) Certification within 90 days of hire.
