Staff Medical Device Engineer

Meet has partnered with an industry-leading medical device company based in Southern California that is developing an innovative portfolio of wearable health monitoring devices. The Hardware R&D Engineering group is hiring for a Staff Medical Device Engineer to lead test method development and design characterization of new wearable biosensor technology. This individual will work within the mechanical test & characterization team within the R&D engineering group leading feasibility testing for next generation product development.


The department leadership team is seeking a hands-on Technical Lead with extensive experience developing test methods related to sensor mechanical properties and interactions with the tissue/device interface. Ideally this individual would have expertise in developing metrology systems and designing experiments (in vivo, in vitro, animal studies) and bench top testing to characterize biomechanical performance.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Act as a team Technical Lead for test method development and characterization efforts on new sensing technology.
  • Develop test methods related to sensor mechanical properties and interactions with living tissue.
  • Design experiments (in vivo, in vitro, animal studies) for feasibility assessments and translate findings to develop bench-top test methods for design verification.
  • Identify and develop Metrology tools and build experimental test systems for evaluation new technology and products.


Required Skills/Experience:

  • MS degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-8 years of industry experience in medical device product development.
  • Strong experience testing mechanical device physiological interactions and developing products interfacing with living tissue.
  • Hands-on experience developing new test methods, metrology tools and characterization plans for new device development.
  • Demonstrated technical project team leadership skills: Exceptional Communication skills with senior leadership and team members, and experience coaching junior engineers
  • Experience with experimental design, statistics, DOE techniques, data analysis methods and software
