It is hiring a Principal Firmware Engineer to support US DOD programs.Location: Largo, FL (onsite)Base pay range: $145,000.00/yr – $198,000.00/yrDuties And ResponsibilitiesDevelop system and/or FPGA architectures based on high‑level requirementsTarget device trade studies, recommendations, and selectionGenerate firmware requirements based on the system architectureGenerate firmware documentation that describes the firmware architectureDesign Hardware Description Language (HDL) based digital circuits that are structured and readableBuild test benches to verify/test the HDL based designGenerate constraints for target deviceCreate scripts to automate build, integration, and test activitiesVerify target device functionality in laboratory environmentRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or other closely related STEM field.Minimum 12+ years of prior relevant experience in digital hardware design and verification, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 10+ years prior experienceSuccessfully completed several designs for various devices and applicationsExperience with designing communication interfaces and bus standards (e.g., SPI, I2C, PCIe, UART, or Gb Ethernet)Experience with test and verification approaches for designs using logic analyzers, high‑speed oscilloscopes, signal generators, and/or target device debugging toolsAll applicants must be U.S. citizens.Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.Must reside within commuting distance to Largo, FL or be willing to relocate to the area.Strong written communication skills, good people skills, strong attention to detail, and the desire to work on a highly focused technical team of engineers.Effective communication and ability to collaborate with customers, cross‑functional teams, document technical processes, and present solutions to stakeholders.Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, manage deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic work environment.Enthusiasm for learning and adapting to new technologies and methodologies.Preferred QualificationsTechnical Leadership and experience using Earned Value Management (EVM)Experience in cost and schedule estimation, and generating technical documentation related to contract deliverable itemsExperience in embedded processors and SoC development for FPGA devicesExperience in FPGA design implementation with VHDL design languageExperience designing applications that utilized red/black separation and redundancy conceptsExperience in OpenVPX technology including VITA standardsExperience in MATLAB and Simulink for digital signal processing designs that use floating and fixed‑point numbersExperience in simulation tools: Mentor Graphics, Synopsys, or CadenceExperience in development tools: AMD (Xilinx), Intel (Altera), Lattice, or Microsemi (Actel) FPGAExperience in TCL, Perl, or Python for scriptingExperience in FPGA development with Linux operating systemADA NotationsRegular communication (hearing/speaking).Noise conditions range from very quiet to very noisy.Prolonged use of computer (typing/keyboarding).Frequently required to sit for long periods of time, stand, and walk.Ability to travel by car, air or other means of transportation, if required.Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
