Summary: The CMM Programmer primarily creates and maintains the CMM programs for all parts produced. The CMM Programmer will perform dimensional layouts of product in a lab environment analyzing data to customer specifications and producing necessary reports, using the CMM and any other gaging necessary. In addition, they assist with inspections prior to, during and after the machining processes. They work closely with the Quality Manager to ensure all parts are being produced with the dimensional requirements identified on the customer design records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include the following: Duties may be modified or additional duties assigned.

Write direct computer controlled CMM programs utilizing PC-DMIS software that correlate to the ballooned drawing, take set up photos and create set-up instructions.
Prove out CMM programs and verify accuracy when discrepancies arise.
Assist machinists and operators in understanding and verifying any discrepancies found during CMM first piece or in process checks to improve the part quality.
Perform in-depth part layout using CMMs as well as all other layout techniques; this includes the documenting and reporting of results.
Perform casting, forging, or any other supplied product (i.e., outside machining, forming, bar stock, etc.) incoming inspection and layouts as needed.
Assist in completing and/or performing tasks for new part quality documentation requirements to include: ballooned drawings, inspection check sheets, operator instructions, spc charts, flow diagrams, pfmea, control plans, dimensional layouts, PSW, capability studies and measurement system analysis.
Follow standardized procedures and instructions when completing first piece, in-process and final inspections across a wide variety of parts.
Understand the importance of random sampling to indicate overall performance, while auditing entire batches of product for consistency.
Perform gage verification (calibration) and assist in maintaining gage recall system.
Understand how to observe quality performance trends and communicate possible corrective actions to management, so new processes, practices and standards are inserted into the manufacturing system to reduce error and drive profitability.
Actively participate in the internal audit team.
All other projects and duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

2-3 years of consistent CMM Programming experience preferred.
2-3 years of Quality experience preferred.
Understand geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
Ability to interpret blueprints.
One year of PC-DMIS preferred.
Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.



Physical Demands:

Required to be able to work in lab and shop environments to accomplish tasks.
Required to be able to sit for longer periods of time.
Operate tools/cranes.
Ability to occasionally move and lift objects up to 75 lbs.
