Staff Accountant

Long Island based real estate investment and development platform with a 40+year track record of successfully acquiring, developing, constructing, financing, leasing, and managing real estate projects in the New York and DC metro areas. Over the past decade, the company has acquired or developed real estate assets exceeding $3 billion of real estate and maintains ownership interest in over 3.2 million square feet of commercial property. The Staff Accountant will perform accounting functions under the technical direction of the Assistant Controller. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with all tax and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment. Responsibilities Manages Accounts Payable and Receivable for assigned properties Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and supporting schedules Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements Maintain financial records Ensure tax and regulatory compliance for the company’s commercial property portfolio Reconciling accounts Processing transactions Assisting in budget preparation and audits Process and record journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as needed. Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies promptly. Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and analysis. Support Property Management by providing accurate financial data and responding to accounting inquiries. Maintain organized accounting files and support month‑end and year‑end close processes. Demonstrate a solid understanding of GAAP and property‑level accounting principles. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field is required. 1‑3 years in accounting experience Strong understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting. High degree of accuracy, organization, and time management skills. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams. Experience with Yardi preferred. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with multiple departments. Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a proactive approach to work. Report to: Assistant Controller Direct Reports: No The Staff Accountant is expected to perform duties in accordance with TRITEC’s policies and procedures, upholding the company’s commitment to quality, integrity, and teamwork. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by management based on the needs of the department or organization.
