Position Summary/ Department Summary:This role will have a future start date of December 2025 and is located in Needham, MA.BCH will be opening up a brand new building in Needham, MA. Coverage of the full satellite departments/cross coverage required, supporting children & families in clinic areas including, but not limited to – Phlebotomy, Radiology, Orthopedics, ORL and other specialties.Four, 10.5 hour daysKey Responsibilities:The Child Life Specialist will:Participate in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitate adjustment to health care experiences in a variety of departmentsServe as member of multidisciplinary team.Delegate work assignments to volunteers and participate in clinical training of student interns.Minimum QualificationsEducation:Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life.600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.Experience: General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced‑based knowledge.Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.Licensure/ Certifications:Certification in Child Life Specialist required within 1 year of hire for all new hires.Boston Children’s Hospital offers competitive compensation and unmatched benefits including flexible schedules, affordable health, vision and dental insurance, child care and student loan subsidies, generous levels of time off, 403(b) Retirement Savings plan, Pension, Tuition and certain License and Certification Reimbursement, cell phone plan discounts and discounted rates on T-passes.
