What you’ll do As a Software Engineer, you will work on software‑defined networking and routing platforms and services. You’ll employ your knowledge of enterprise protocols (EIGRP, VRF, OSPF) and tools (VPNs, VLANs, DLEP) to tailor commercial SD‑WAN techniques to the defense marketplace and operations, building innovative features into our routing and services platform. The day‑to‑day We are looking for a flexible, self‑driven individual who is willing to learn new technologies. You’ll work on projects ranging from graphical user interfaces to Linux services to network and firewall settings, in a highly resilient environment. This role follows an Agile SCRUM cadence, beginning each day with a stand‑up and progressing through building requirements, tests, design, and coding. As an Early Career hire, you will participate in our Graduate Development Program during the first 12+ months at Viasat, including mentorship, peer collaboration, technical upskilling, and soft‑skills development to ensure success. The position is located onsite; Viasat offers flexible and hybrid work options depending on role and team. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates. Pre‑determined start dates for U.S. Early Career hires: Monday, February 2, 2026 Monday, July 13, 2026 Monday, August 3, 2026 Monday, September 7, 2026 What you’ll need Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math, or a related field. Experience: 0‑3 years of full‑time, relevant industry experience. Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required. Technical skills: Experience with C/C++ and Python. What will help you on the job Excitement and motivation to dive into new technology. Experience or interest in cloud services. Collaborative and team‑oriented mindset. Salary range $83,500.00 – $132,000.00 annually. For roles in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area, and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range is $104,000.00 – $156,000.00 annually. Base pay may vary based on experience and qualifications. Additional cash or stock incentives, medical, financial, and other benefits may also be provided.
