JOB SUMMARY

Your role as a Paraprofessional is to assist teachers in facilitating online asynchronous courses, focused primarily on Math and potentially other subject areas. Primary tasks include basic grading, test proctoring, student tracking, student project development, team meetings, tutoring, and working collaboratively with staff and students.

 

You will be a member of an Agile team; encouraging positive student behavior through caring support, patience, consistency, and fairness; and participating in school culture and events.

OVERALL ESSENTIAL ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works to reinforce course information or skills initially introduced and under the direction of the supervising teacher.
  • Devises strategies to reinforce learning materials and skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities, under the direction of the supervising teacher.
  • Monitors work, corrects assignments working closely with content teachers
  • Respects the confidentiality of information associated with schools/students.
  • Exhibits competence in record-keeping as it pertains to student programs and following prescriptions of students' learning programs.
  • Demonstrates a warm and receptive attitude.
  • Maintains a cooperative working relationship with administration, supervising teachers, students, parents, general staff, and the general public.
  • Works well with minimum supervision.
  • Exhibits professionalism and commitment through punctuality and attendance in an online environment.
  • Works with teacher or administration to establish and maintain open and positive lines of communication with students, other staff, and parents concerning academics, language, and behavior.
  • Supports school staff in upholding and enforcing school rules and policies.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities. Attends all team and district meetings.
  • Fulfills staff expectations for school and state assessments.
  • Demonstrates capability to maintain effective relationships with staff in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude toward his/her work assignment.
  • Communicates effectively with others, including giving and receiving feedback on the quality of services.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferred, but not required: Arizona State Paraprofessional Certification (= 30 to 60 hours of college education or successful completion of approved paraprofessional training test)
  • Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to physically obtain one before start
  • Preferred, but not required: Phoenix area resident
