Wireless Systems Engineer

OverviewBowler Pons is seeking a self-motivated and highly detail-oriented field engineer who will bring the very best in wireless engineering and design to our Department of Navy customer. The ideal candidate will be hired in either the Annapolis, MD or Norfolk, VA area. ResponsibilitiesHands-on experience with the design, engineering, deployment and maintenance of Cisco wireless hardware and software (e.g. 9000x series)Hands-on experience working in Cisco CLIExcellent knowledge in routing, switching, RADIUS, 802.11x, and CAPWAP protocolsWorking experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) is required; knowledge of Cisco DNA Center and Cisco Prime is a plusExtensive experience with RF survey tools, wireless system design, and architecture is requiredStrong knowledge of Wi-Fi standard (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax) and RTLS is a plusUnderstanding of Cisco outdoor wireless antenna concepts to include gain, directionality, polarization and SIAHardware installation best practices to mount, height, cabling, weatherproofing and orientationSustain the Navy’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) field installation pointsInterface and coordinate as needed with the Navy’s AMI team to make sure the meters are fully operational and report back to their assigned systemsProgram, test, and troubleshoot the components of the AMI system to include EI smart meters, Cisco/other wireless radios, Cisco field switches and 2.4/5.8 GHz wireless antennasTerminate all necessary cabling to include Fiber and/or CAT5/6Inspect existing wireless radio, antenna and cabling infrastructure to ensure proper installation, deployment and sizingPerform On-site survey of installed systems, assess system operational statusRequired QualificationsU. S. citizenshipDepartment of War (DoW) SECRET (or higher) security clearanceAssociate’s degree or higher; At least five (5) years’ relevant working experience may be substituted for a degreeCisco Certifications: CCNA (minimum); CCNP Wireless (preferred)Security+ CertificationMinimum of four (4) years’ proficiency in a systems/infrastructure engineering and/or technical infrastructure support role in LAN/WAN/WLAN administrationLAN/WAN/WLAN/SDN technologies knowledgeOther wireless technologies and mobile presence (e.g., Aruba) and Wireless (Wi-Fi 2.5/5.8Ghz) experienceSignificant and successful experience in designing various IT solutions and implementationStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and manage several independent projects simultaneouslyAdditional Desired QualificationsFamiliarity with the Navy’s AMI Metering ProgramElectric meter (socket type) programming/replacementService Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and 8(a) professional service and engineering solutions development company.
