Overview:
In this full-time, clinical physician lead role, under supervision of the CMO, you will have several clinical responsibilities, along with some specified administrative responsibilities. While providing day-to-day clinical care to residents residing in facilities as well as home-bound patients, you will practice and role-model ethical and evidence-based decision-making to promote the vision and mission of the company to other practitioners and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Provides high-quality complex and geriatric care to residents and patients across settings in partnership with non-physician practitioners and other interprofessional team members to an identified panel of patients across various assisted living and skilled nursing facilities.
- Keeps high engagement with facility leadership teams, nurse practitioners/physician assistants, patients, and families.
- Provides collaborating physician duties for an average of 5 but up to 15 nurse practitioners and physician assistants (based on state regulatory parameters) to support them in their clinical roles.
- Based on state and regional regulatory frameworks, audits up to 10% of practitioner medical orders and/or documentation for each provider monthly.
- If needed, assumes medical directorships for skilled and/or other senior living facilities.
- Helps identify new growth opportunities with skilled facilities and/or other senior living facilities in the market/region.
- Participates in company frontline/backup call processes for timely response to acute changes of condition to prevent avoidable hospital transfers, or to meet other clinical needs.
- Keeps a high focus on quality outcomes including but not limited to care path compliance and productivity, prevention of avoidable transfers, and decrease in polypharmacy and costs of care.
- Attends required trainings and meetings as mandated by the CMO or other leaders to assure best care delivery by the company.
Education/Experience:
- Graduate from an accredited school of medicine and is a Doctor of Medicine.
- Two or more years of administrative leadership experience in healthcare.
- Clinical medical experience of seven years or more preferred.
- Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Geriatrics; qualification in Geriatrics preferred.
- Practicing physician currently licensed under the provisions of the State Board of Medicine.
- Active unrestricted licensure to practice in the state of employment.
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration registration.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and other healthcare support staff.
- Ability to treat patients and their families with compassion and understanding.
- Ability to work for long periods of time with patients who need special attention.
- Ability to display patience with children and adult patients who fear medical treatment.
- Excellent computer and electronic record-keeping skills.
- Excellent organizational and management skills.
- Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and cognitive abilities.
