The Licensed Clinical Social Worker is responsible for projecting and integrating the Mission and Core Values of the organization within and outside the Mental Health Department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by the Director of Mental Health.

* Conducts a psychosocial assessment on all new clients; conducts additional follow-up assessments as required by regulation or deemed necessary by the healthcare team.
* Provides crisis intervention counseling.
* Provides short-term therapy as needed for individuals, groups, couples and/or families. Length of therapy will be determined in conjunction with the Director of Mental Health.
* Assists the patient in prioritizing needs and coordinating referrals.
* Advises, counsels and, when appropriate, assists the patient's support system in problem identification, analysis, suggestions for interventions and follow up plans.
* Develops and tracks mental health treatment plans in conjunction with the Director of Mental Health.
* Reports suspicions of child and/or adult abuse to the appropriate authorities according to statutes in collaboration with the Director of Mental Health, the patient's medical provider and AHF's General Counsel
* Refers clients to the appropriate program or resource, and when required, assists clients in the enrollment process to access benefits.

Education and/or Experience:

Master's degree (MSW)

Licensure as Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California preferred

Other Qualifications:

* Three years or more of inpatient mental health care experience desired.
* Two years of clinical work, preferably with emphasis on chronically ill mental health patients desired.
* Must be able to travel locally to HCCs.
* Strong organizational and record keeping skills.
* Refined mental health interview techniques.
* Knowledge of HIV/AIDS related issues and concerns as they relate to the diverse populations. (Preferred).
* Familiarity with general medical and psychiatric disorders seen in HIV infected persons, HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND), crisis intervention techniques and social/family systems.
* An annual stipend for continuing education units (CEUs) and licensure renewal
