Overview Store Manager role at Walgreens. Manages the operation of a Walgreens store, improving sales, profitability and image through merchandising, protection of store assets, selection, training, development of team members and delivering a distinctive customer experience. Responsibilities Customer Experience Monitors and analyzes the customer service provided by team members, offers reminders, training and encouragement and develops action plans for improvement in retail and pharmacy. Greets customers and clinic patients and offers assistance with products and services. Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer and patient experience. Resolves customer complaints and helps respond to customers’ special needs. Operations Supervises operation of the store and pharmacy, including opening/closing, shift changes, task delegation and scheduling. Controls store money, including register counts, bank withdrawals, armored car pickups, safe deposits, change orders, bookkeeping and cash reports. Supervises merchandising, inventory management, receiving, stocking, pricing and transferring of merchandise. Ensures compliance with laws and regulations, manages repair and maintenance, and maintains store cleanliness and appearance. Complies with all company policies, maintains respectful relationships with coworkers and completes special assignments. Daily Planning and Execution Assigns daily operational responsibilities and tasks and sets expectations for store team members and assistant managers. Business Performance Management Analyzes financial and performance data, develops action plans to increase sales and control costs. Reviews KPIs daily and prepares to discuss with district management. Analyzes asset protection data and implements action plans to reduce loss. Works with pharmacy manager and clinic coordinator to enhance pharmacy and clinic performance. Business Planning Identifies sales opportunities to grow store and pharmacy performance. Manages inventory levels through ordering, liquidating stock and anticipating seasonal changes. People and Performance Management Manages team member performance, assigns responsibilities, sets goals, observes performance and provides feedback. Monitors and ensures timely completion of required training programs. Makes hiring, promotion and termination decisions and addresses issues in collaboration with Human Resources. Communicates regularly with team members through one‑on‑one discussions and group meetings. Training and Personal Development Participates in company and on‑the‑job training, attends training requested by District Management and completes Walgreens School of Operations within six months. Follows performance improvement plans offered by District Manager. Obtains pharmacy technician registration/licensure as required by state law. Seeks self‑development by monitoring own performance and learning about retail management and pharmacy. Communications Serves as liaison between district, corporate and the store to provide a communication channel and implement initiatives. Conducts community outreach and assists District Manager in planning and attending community events. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 3 years retail management experience or High School Diploma/GED and 5 years retail management experience. Licensed pharmacy technician as required by state or pharmacy assistant in WA state or licensed Rph as soon as possible within 12 months of start date. Willingness to work flexible schedule including extended days, evenings, and weekend hours. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. PTCB or ExCPT Certification. Three years retail management experience, including supervising others, managing, and assigning work. Licensed pharmacy technician or pharmacy assistant in WA state or licensed Rph.
