The Banquet Houseperson position plays a major role in the hotel’s Food & Beverage experience. As Banquet Houseperson, this role is accountable to the setup, takedown and overall cleanliness of the banquets space. Must be able to multi-task and be able to think and act quickly and effectively while maintaining self-composure. Schedule: We are currently seeking part-time availability. Essential Functions Maintains cleanliness and organization of banquet rooms, hallways, restrooms, storage and service areas. Sets up for events, carries trays, serves guests, and cleans up at the event’s conclusion. Set up includes: putting out tablecloths and place settings, arranging table placement, and putting up a buffet. Clean up includes: breaking down tables and taking tablecloths and linens to laundry. Completes other tasks and duties as assigned based on business needs. Inspects linen, silver, china, and other items prior to using them. During events, duties include assisting servers and bartenders, transporting tables and equipment, reporting maintenance issues to management, and providing requested information to banquet patrons. Assembles temporary dance floors, podiums and other structures. Upsells venue services and amenities to guests. Assists audio-visual (A/V) set up of equipment, such as speakers and monitors. In some cases, may also be tasked with helping transport food, beverages, decorations and equipment to an off-premises event location. Required Experience: Minimum Requirements Previous hotel/hospitality or related service industry experience is strongly preferred. A passion for the mission, vision, and values of Sherman Associates.
