About the team and what we'll build together We are seeking a Director of Data Governance to lead the execution of our enterprise-wide data and AI governance strategy. This is a new and high-impact leadership role responsible for ensuring that our data and AI initiatives are aligned with ethical, regulatory, and business standards. You will define the frameworks, standards, tools, and practices that ensure data and models are trustworthy, discoverable, high-quality, and responsibly used. You will serve as the central point of coordination between Engineering, Data Science, Legal, Compliance, Product, and Business teams. Your work will help scale our data ecosystem while embedding a culture of data stewardship, transparency, and accountability across the company. How you will make an impact Strategy & Program Leadership: Build and lead the Enterprise Data & AI Governance Program including frameworks, policies, and guidelines aligned with corporate values, ethical AI principles, and regulatory requirements. Define and operationalize governance for data products, ensuring consistency in metadata, lineage, and quality across platforms such as Databricks, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric. Oversee governance strategies across the data and AI/ML lifecycle, from design to deployment to monitoring and deprecation. AI & Responsible Tech Governance: Integrate governance into AI tools and platforms, including model registries, risk assessments, explainability dashboards, and bias detection tools. Stay informed and ensure alignment with evolving global AI regulations. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with technical stakeholders and business leaders to ensure data definitions, access, and usage are consistent. Champion data stewardship across the organization through training, workshops, and ongoing support. Tooling & Process Enablement: Drive automation of governance workflows and documentation. Maintain and improve assets like data dictionaries, glossaries, catalogs, and access control documentation. Monitoring, Metrics, & Reporting: Define KPIs and governance health metrics to track data quality, accessibility, bias mitigation, and overall program maturity. Lead audits, risk reviews, and compliance assessments for both structured and unstructured data products and AI systems. Report governance performance, maturity, and risks to executive leadership and, where appropriate, the Board. What you need to be successful 10-12 years of experience in data governance, AI/ML governance, data product management, or risk/compliance in data-centric organizations, ideally in a fast‑paced environment. Strong understanding of data governance tools, frameworks (DAMA‑DMBOK) and AI risk management models (AI RMF). Deep familiarity with regulations including GDPR, PCI, HIPAA, CCPA, and emerging AI legislation. Hands‑on experience with data and AI tooling (ex. Microsoft Purview, Alation, Collibra, Databricks, Fabric, Power BI). Deep familiarity with metadata, data lineage, access controls, and master data strategies. Proven leadership experience driving cross‑functional influence across technical stakeholders and business leaders. Proven success building and significantly scaling data governance functions in MarTech or SaaS environments. Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment. Working knowledge of AI/ML development, model documentation, bias detection. Passion for ethical innovation, curiosity for emerging technology, and commitment to operational integrity. Change management expertise with the ability to drive governance adoption across both technical and business functions preferred. Bachelor’s degree in information security, computer science, information or related discipline preferred.
