Assistant Professor – Sport Leadership in Administration Job no: 528498 Position Type: Faculty Full Time Campus: UMass Boston Department: Couns. School Psych. & Sport Pay Grade: 03 Date opened: 23 Sep 2025 Eastern Daylight Time We are seeking an outstanding candidate to join our faculty in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sport Leadership and Administration to begin September 1, 2026. Of particular interest are candidates with scholarly expertise in equity in sport and whose teaching, research, and service will advance our college mission and the commitments outlined in our university strategic plan (page 11). Research Focus Opportunities and barriers to equity in sport leadership and administration; or The role of sport in the pursuit of social change. Preferred Qualifications Scholarship that incorporates critical theoretical lenses to advance equity and social justice in sport through scholarship, teaching, and service. Experience with culturally sustaining and inclusive approaches to teaching and learning. Involvement in collaborative, interdisciplinary and community-engaged scholarship. A record or promise of research productivity. Opportunities to collaborate with UMass Boston’s Collaborative of Asian American, Native American, Latino, and African American Institutes (CANALA) and with socio‑culturally diverse populations. Responsibilities Teaching undergraduate courses in the Sport Leadership and Administration Program. Conducting research relevant to the field of sport leadership and administration. Contributing service to university, college, departmental, program committees, professional associations, and local, national, and/or international communities. Program Mission The mission of the Sport Leadership and Administration program is to cultivate equity‑minded, character‑driven, and transformational leaders who will positively improve society through sport. The program prepares students for careers within the sport industry with the goal of transforming and improving organizations and communities. Required Qualifications Ph.D. or Ed.D. from a Sport Management, Educational Leadership, Sport Studies, Sport Psychology, Sport Sociology, or related field. Application Information Salary range: $80,000 to $85,850. The specific pay will be determined by the university based on relevant factors.
