DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Custodial Worker 1 for Central Region 1, you will perform a variety of duties to maintain cleanliness and orderliness in our buildings. Restrooms are maintained by sweeping and mopping floors and washing and cleaning all furnishings such as mirrors, toilets, urinals, partitions, walls, sinks, and other fixtures. General cleaning and dusting are completed on office furnishings, office equipment, and file cabinets. You will also polish furniture items, such as chairs, desks, conference tables, bookshelves, and various window and glass cleaning.

As your complete your duties, you will also ensure that adequate amounts of restroom supplies are available for use and provide replenishment as needed. Burnt-out or blinking light bulbs, plumbing leaks, clogged drains, or other discrepancies should be reported to the immediate supervisor. You will also operate pallet jacks and dollies to move furniture and materials from one area to another as well as utilize a commercial heavy-duty scrub machine (buffer) to clean and buff floors. Snow and ice removal is required for building entrances, exits, sidewalks, driveways, stairways, and other areas. Deicing materials are distributed where needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Essential employee - required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
