As a team, we’ve launched five satellites into orbit, signed ten commercial deals worth over $1 billion in revenue, raised over $750 million from top global investors, and recruited a team of over 400 world-class engineers. We all work out of our (legendary) San Francisco office, which was once used to build ships during the World Wars.Our satellites, which operate from geostationary orbit (GEO), weigh only 400 kg and utilize a proprietary software-defined radio payload. You’ll support the team in pushing the boundary of what is possible in a geo-synchronous spacecraft design and enable performance in space that has not been realized to date.RoleDirectly manage and grow a team of junior and senior power engineersCollaborate with a broad and multidisciplinary team to define the spacecraft power requirements and architecturesOversee the design, build, and implementation of the power converters and systemsManage a detailed schedule to ensure that our power converters and systems development is in sync with the overall program scheduleDrive power converter design, specification, component selection, circuit board design, implementation, verification, board bring-up, and debuggingSupport in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates to our rapidly-growing teamSupport the production and mission operations teams on the build and in-flight use of our power converter hardwareDrive the growth of the power team through recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates to our rapidly-expanding teamRequirementsB.S. or higher in electrical engineering, or similar technical degree5+ years of professional experience with fast-paced product design cycles5+ years of board level experience designing power electronics hardware from concept through productionA passion for hardware development, including working in a fast-paced environment and hands-on design and developmentDemonstrated ability to design, build, and test hardware from scratchDemonstrated ability to build and manage teams of engineers and communicate clearly with other disciplinesUS Citizenship or Green CardBonusExperience with photovoltaicsExperience with Li-ion batteries and management systemsExperience with magnetics in power electronicsRadiation effects knowledgeWhat we offerAll our positions offer a compensation package that includes equity and robust benefits.Base pay is a single component of Astranis's total rewards package, which may also include equity in the form of incentive stock options, high quality company-subsidized healthcare, disability and life insurance benefits, flexible PTO, 401(K) retirement, and free on-site catered meals.Astranis pay ranges are informed and defined through professional-grade salary surveys and compensation data sources.
