Vantage is looking for an ambitious, diligent, hands‑on Principal Billing & Telemetry Engineer to lead systems development for customer billing and usage tracking across Vantage facilities. You will review power distribution diagrams, metering specifications, and network architecture documents to assist in developing telemetry collection systems and billing calculation engines for both new and existing facilities on a variety of platforms. You will also be called on to troubleshoot existing billing and telemetry systems in a live, mission‑critical environment, and complete validation, testing, and commissioning procedures on new and existing data center metering infrastructure. Essential Job Functions Collaborate with peers to ensure incorporation and application of lessons learned and improvements to developed billing standards and telemetry frameworks. Develop and deploy new telemetry collection and billing calculation applications for customer usage tracking projects, with minimal direction. Plan and implement billing system modifications and telemetry updates in an online, critical environment without disrupting customer billing cycles. Educate regionally based Billing & Telemetry personnel on standards and system architectures to support Vantage market expansion and growth. Support data center planning and development activities, including vendor management, validation of metering hardware and software systems, alerting, data reconciliation, and billing logic. Work with advanced telemetry systems from leading metering equipment vendors and software platforms. Develop billing architectures for customer build‑to‑suit projects and enterprise‑level telemetry solutions. Work with multi‑functional partners in support of automated customer billing, usage reporting, and threshold notifications. Optimize telemetry data collection and billing algorithms to increase accuracy and reduce billing disputes, including but not limited to, application of machine learning for anomaly detection. Additional duties as assigned by Management Duties Collaborate with Design, Engineering, Finance, and Construction teams during billing system development, as well as members of the Information Technology and Site Operations teams for sustaining existing telemetry and billing architecture. Support the corporate development team in merger and acquisition growth and onboarding of new personnel through billing system assessments, integration plan development, and new team member training. Develop standardized quality assurance processes to support the validation and testing of sophisticated billing and telemetry systems. Examine project documents, including Power Distribution drawings, Metering Specifications, Network Architecture Diagrams, and project schedules when developing telemetry collection logic and billing calculation engines. Build standardized Billing System Architecture Documents to include Data Flow Diagrams, API Specifications, and Database Schemas for new data centers based on prototype builds. Lead other billing integration team members and staff augmentation personnel Job Requirements 7+ years of experience in Industrial Automation, Billing Systems, Telemetry, or Data Analytics Data Center experience is strongly preferred, but not required Knowledge of billing systems (usage calculation, rate structures, invoice generation, etc.) in a critical environment Knowledge of Ignition (by Inductive Automation) software platform is required Advanced Knowledge of programming to include PLC ladder logic, SQL, and python is required Advanced knowledge of MQTT is preferred Travel is expected to be 10% but may increase over time as the business evolves Additional Details Salary Range: $155k – $165k + Bonus (this range is based on national market data and may vary in other locations) This position is eligible for company benefits including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and AD&D, short and long‑term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program that includes company match, and many other additional voluntary benefits.
