Position: Truss Designer

Reports To: [Supervisor's, Design Manager or Engineering Manager]

A leading provider in the building materials industry, specializing in custom truss design and manufacturing. We are committed to delivering high-quality products and exceptional service to our customers. As a Truss Designer, you will play a key role in our design team, contributing to the creation of precise, innovative, and efficient truss designs that meet our customers' needs.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Design and Drafting:

    • Create detailed truss designs using industry-standard software (e.g., MiTek, Alpine).
    • Develop layouts and plans for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
    • Ensure designs comply with building codes, regulations, and client specifications.
    • Modify and revise designs to meet project requirements or address client feedback.

  • Project Coordination:

    • Collaborate with sales teams, architects, and engineers to gather design requirements and specifications.
    • Work closely with production teams to ensure that designs are feasible and optimized for manufacturing.
    • Communicate effectively with clients and contractors to clarify design concepts and address any concerns.

  • Quality Assurance:

    • Review and verify the accuracy of design plans, calculations, and material specifications.
    • Ensure all designs adhere to industry standards and company quality guidelines.
    • Participate in design reviews and provide input on design improvements and cost-saving opportunities.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of design projects, including design notes, calculations, and revisions.
    • Provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders on design progress and project timelines.
    • Assist in preparing proposals and presentations for clients as needed.


Qualifications:


  • Education:

    • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
    • Relevant certifications in truss design or structural engineering are a plus.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in truss design, preferably in a building materials or construction environment.
    • Proficiency in truss design software such as MiTek, Alpine, or similar tools.

  • Skills:

    • Strong understanding of structural design principles and building codes.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in design work.
    • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Other Requirements:

    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
    • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and design methodologies.
