Pay: $200/225/hr Description of Duties The incumbent supports the delivery of medical care services for detainees held in custody at a detention facility. The incumbent will provide direct patient care to detainees at their facility, which may include family units of adult men, women, and their children, and will provide clinical oversight and direction for all aspects of clinical care at the facility. Required Education, Licensure, And Experience Qualification for a physician’s degree with a Doctor of Medicine from a U.S. or Canadian program accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an AOA accredited program, or completion of foreign medical graduate requirements. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of duty station. Unrestricted DEA license to prescribe controlled medications in the state of duty station. Proof of completion of three years of specialty training in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Pediatrics, with board certification preferred, and at least one year of professional experience in direct patient care. Minimum of five years post residency experience providing direct patient care as a board-certified or eligible physician in Family Medicine or Pediatrics. Minimum of three years’ experience providing clinical supervision and leadership to other medical professionals and ancillary clinic staff. Maintain certifications in Basic Life Support, CPR, or equivalent. Experience in a detention/correctional or residential healthcare setting (preferred). Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Excellent current knowledge of clinical medicine standards of practice. Mastery of managerial and administrative practices for ambulatory clinic functioning. Ability to review medical cases and provide recommendations. Proficiency as a clinical expert, providing technical assistance and consultation. Ability to utilize equipment and supplies for primary care diagnostic and treatment procedures. Teaching experience and ability to develop clinical educational programs. Knowledge of healthcare delivery system issues, especially for special populations. Understanding of program policies, guidelines, and operations. Competence in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment. Proficiency in telephone, video, and interpreter services. Ability to adapt to sudden schedule changes and flexibility in work requirements. Strong English communication skills for positive rapport with patients and stakeholders. Capability to maintain a multidisciplinary working relationship. Familiarity with electronic health records and web-based training. Moderate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint). Knowledge of HIPAA/Privacy Act and PII confidentiality requirements. Major Duties And Responsibilities Serve as the on-site medical authority and coordinate all aspects of healthcare delivery at the facility. Provide direct care to patients and oversight of APPs, nursing staff, pharmacists, and medical assistants. Perform age-appropriate screening, treatment, and instruction for acute and chronic conditions. Maintain chart reviews, referrals, lab reviews, and documentation as per policy. Ensure appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic services are available and monitored. Act as initial reviewer for outside referrals and coordinate responses to medical emergencies. Maintain confidentiality of medical records and comply with HIPAA and the Privacy Act. Attend general/medical staff meetings and complete all required training and competency testing. Provide on-call coverage during non-core hours and respond to emergencies. Duty Hours / On-call Requirements Full-time position requiring on-call coverage except during approved leave. Facility operates 24/7/365; the incumbent must be present during emergency activations. Physical Demands Work requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting moderately heavy patients or equipment. Citizenship Requirements and Verification Employees must be United States citizens or foreign citizens legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification will be conducted via the E[1]verify system in accordance with FAR 52.222‑54.
