Job Title: Processing Associate

Salary Range: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Location: Purplebees | Pueblo, CO

Position Objective

The Processing Associate is principally responsible for engaging in the full range of operations of the regulated cannabis manufacturing production facility to produce cannabis extracts and subsequent refinement procedures. Our production departments operate as a fast-paced work environment that requires attention to detail. As a Processing Associate, the work performed by the employee shall be under the primary supervision of the Processing Supervisor.

Essential Functions

Manufacturing Operations (40%)

  • Prepare cannabis raw material biomass for extraction by grinding to a uniform size.
  • Depending on the needs of the department as determined by the Processing Supervisor:
    • Operate the automated equipment systems successfully to fully extract cannabinoids from raw material in strict accordance with standard operating procedures.
    • Operate the automated equipment systems successfully to recover the extraction solvent from the winterized cannabis oil in strict accordance with standard operating procedures.
    • Operate the automated equipment systems successfully to fully decarboxylate the winterized cannabis oil by neither over nor under processing the oil in strict accordance with standard operating procedures.
    • Operate the automated equipment systems successfully to distill the decarboxylated cannabis oil into bulk distillate in strict accordance with standard operating procedures.

  • Execute daily, weekly, and monthly routine cleaning of all equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance for all equipment used in the production of bulk cannabis distillate.
  • Assist with the regular preventative maintenance of major facility systems, as needed, and directed by, the Plant Manager.
  • Assist with troubleshooting production process issues as required.

Documentation and Quality Assurance (30%)

  • Perform quality checks against the product specification sheet prior to a production run for each SKU to ensure the correct materials are being used during the production run.
  • Perform visual inspections to ensure real-time product consistency, accurate labeling, and product counts.
  • Conduct inventory checks upon product receipt and distribution, maintaining precise record-keeping.
  • Safely handle waste material in compliance with state regulations and company policies.
  • Continuously monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the packaging area.
  • Accurately complete all daily reporting sampling and paperwork in established data systems.
  • Operate a variety of weighing, batching, and packaging machinery, ensuring their proper function.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment, containers, and work areas following standard operating procedures.
  • Proactively perform equipment maintenance tasks to optimize operational efficiency.

Communication and Safety (30%)

  • Take instructions and follow directions as delegated by leadership to meet production and quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with management and co-workers on a professional basis.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Strive to solve problems and complete repairs with minimal impact to processing.
  • Follow all safety practices and address safety concerns with team members.

Education and Experience

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proven ability to work with little to no supervision and be able to follow directions precisely.
  • Must be mechanically inclined with an aptitude for operating complex machinery.

Working Conditions (Schedule, Environment, Travel)

  • This position is held within a highly compliant and secured regulated, licensed cannabis manufacturing facility.
  • Possess a high level of multitasking in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be able to lift a 50-pound load and carry it for 50 feet repeatedly.
  • Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods at a time.
  • Willing to perform additional duties as necessary to maintain a compliant, clean, safe, and inviting environment for our team members and customers supporting all licensed activities is required.
  • Schedule will vary depending on the needs of the business (nights, weekends, and some holidays may be included).
  • Close visual acuity required for reading fine print on product labels and equipment screens.
  • Overtime may be necessary based on business needs including evening shifts, night shifts, weekend shifts, and occasional shifts on holidays.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) badge in the state of Colorado.
