Position Overview At Boeing BGS, we have an Avionics Systems Engineering position for the C-17 Military Airlifter Program within the Avionics/Flight Management & Software Engineering organization, located in Long Beach, California. Changes in Avionics technology require continuous upgrade and engineering evaluation of present/future capability. As an Avionics Systems Engineer, the selected candidate will rapidly integrate into the team and apply an interdisciplinary approach to the analysis, design, development, system level test/verification and validation of the C-17 Flight Management System (FMS). In addition, the selected candidate will apply job principles, theories, and concepts to contribute to the field investigations and new capability development for the C-17. The Employer will not sponsor applicants for visa status. Position Responsibilities The given tasks will broaden upon candidate’s knowledge in aviation, including navigation and localization (position awareness), guidance and flight controls, and federal and military regulations and policies, expanding as the candidate grows within the domain. This role builds expertise in aircraft technologies that are industry standards and C-17 specific. The primary subject matter for this role is the Flight Management System, responsible for Flight Planning/navigation, guidance, control, display, and automation of aircraft. The successful candidate will require excellent technical and communication skills while being aware of business constraints. Qualifications Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science Classroom or work-related programming experience with Ada, C, C++, C#, JAVA, or Python 3+ years of experience in aircraft, avionics, flight controls, or other aircraft electronics Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 5+ years of higher education and/or related work experience 3+ years of full-time aerospace industry experience with Avionics, Flight Management System and Electrical Systems Military/commercial aircrew experience or related certifications (e.g., Private Pilot License, Flight Instructor, etc.) Experience with software development programs and working with geographically diverse teams Experience with analyzing aircraft data and with Agile methodologies Typical Education and Experience Advanced technical education in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry with typically 5+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination ABET accreditation is preferred in the USA but not required Additional Details Shift: 1st shift Relocation: Relocation offered based on candidate eligibility Drug Free Workplace: Boeing conducts post-offer and ongoing testing as per policy Pay & Benefits: Total Rewards package including base pay and incentives; health, retirement, and other benefits Salary: Summary Pay Range for Experienced (Level 3): 102,850 – 139,150; for Senior (Level 4): 128,350 – 173,650 Applications accepted until Oct 30, 2025 Export Control: US Person required; US-based job Visa Sponsorship: Employer will not sponsor applicants Equal Opportunity Employer: Boeing hires without regard to protected characteristics Roles & Functions Job function: Engineering and Information Technology Industries: Airlines and Aviation; Aviation and Aerospace Components; Defense and Space Manufacturing Note: This description reflects the responsibilities and qualifications for the Design and Analysis Engineer (Electronic Sys Design & Analy) role and is based on information in the original posting. #J-18808-Ljbffr
