The ideal candidate will be proficient in DCL (Digital Command Language) scripting and RMS (OpenVMS Record Management System - Indexed files). Have demonstrated software development expertise and experience with OpenVMS Macro Assembly for at least 5 years. Have demonstrated software development experience with TCP and UDP protocols and XML and Json message formats. Be a valued member of a professional software development team building and maintaining a suite of software products helping first responders improve efficiency and effectiveness.Roles And ResponsibilitiesImplement feature enhancements and other changes for a suite of software products marketed to the public safety domainDevelop solutions primarily using OpenVMS Macro Assembly. Use of other technologies expectedCollaborate with systems engineers to gain understanding of system requirementsImplement system requirements to meet user needsAssist with the development of estimates for levels of effort for proposed changesApply software engineering best practices to ensure software qualityBasic QualificationsTo be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:Proficient in DCL (Digital Command Language) scripting and RMS (OpenVMS Record Management System - Indexed files)”Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or similar fieldMinimum 8 to 10 years' experience in software engineeringDemonstrated software development expertise and experience with OpenVMS Macro Assembly for at least 5 yearsDemonstrated software development experience with TCP and UDP protocols and XML and Json message formatsExperience in full product life cyclePreferred QualificationsCandidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:Master's degree in software engineering, computer science, or similar fieldExperience in Public Safety SolutionsExperience with computer aided dispatch systemsMinimum 8 to 10 years' experience in OpenVMS operating systemMinimum 8 to 10 years' experience performing software engineering in an Agile environmentLocationPosition allows for remote work but working hours are eastern time zoneSome travel will be required to northeast / mid-Atlantic USAEducation/ExperienceBachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required.10+ years of experience required.Additional ProvisionsMust be able to obtain a Public Trust ClearancePass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check.All candidates must be a US CitizenCandidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded.
