OverviewA Consulting Firm in the Baltimore area is seeking a Director of Finance. The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company to ensure financial stability and growth. This role involves managing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting while providing strategic recommendations to executive leadership. The Director of Finance will play a critical role in formulating the company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.ResponsibilitiesFinancial Strategy and PlanningDevelop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s business objectives.Lead the annual budgeting process, including long-term financial planning.Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to the executive team.Financial ManagementOversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, financial reporting, and treasury.Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, budgets, and reports.Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to ensure the company’s financial health.Financial Reporting and ComplianceEnsure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.Prepare and present financial reports to the Board of Directors, investors, and stakeholders.Coordinate external audits and ensure timely submission of financial statements.Team Leadership and DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop the finance team to achieve departmental and organizational goals.Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration within the finance team.Ensure the finance team has the necessary tools, resources, and training to perform their duties effectively.Risk ManagementIdentify and mitigate financial risks to protect the company’s assets.Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard financial integrity and compliance.Monitor and report on key financial risks and opportunities.Business PartneringCollaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making.Participate in strategic initiatives and projects, offering financial expertise and guidance.Act as a key liaison with external stakeholders, including banks, auditors, and regulatory agencies.Professional DevelopmentTake ownership of personal and professional development by staying current with industry trends, advancements, and best practices.Pursue relevant certifications, training, and continuing education opportunities.Actively seek feedback and engage in self-assessment to improve skills and competencies.Other Duties and ResponsibilitiesParticipate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.Perform other duties as assigned.Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior role.Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards.Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.Preferred SkillsExperience working in the professional services industry.Knowledge of ERP systems and financial modeling.Strong business acumen and strategic thinking.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesDirectly supervises employees in the Finance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.TravelMinimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
