Physicist (Diagnostic Radiological Medical)

About the Position This position is located at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Duties Serves as the primary subject matter expert for all diagnostic imaging modalities (ionizing and non-ionizing) and their associated digital systems. Perform advanced diagnostic medical physics support for modalities such as Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), radiography, mammography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. Oversee Quality Control (QC) testing performed by radiology technicians and biomedical engineers on all radiation-producing, detecting, and measuring equipment. Serve as the Radiation Oncology Department Director and first-line supervisor for subordinate staff. Direct all clinical and administrative operations within the Radiation Oncology department, ensuring quality of care, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. Lead multidisciplinary care team coordination, including participation in tumor boards, meetings, and treatment planning reviews. Serve as Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for all radiation sources and radioactive materials programs. Develop and deliver formal radiation safety, MRI safety, and fluoroscopy credentialing training for physicians, technologists, and other staff. Requirements Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Personnel Security Investigation is required. Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. A pre-placement medical examination is required. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. This position may include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays). This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
