Job Title: Retoucher

Location: Hybrid schedule with the ability to commute to our Manhattan office


Description: 

Founded in 2002, Vision On is a boutique retouching company specializing in e-commerce and campaign images for major brands. We retouch/edit a wide range of imagery with varying standards and aesthetics. Candidates must be able to switch gears quickly, and seamlessly tailor their style to our clients’ unique looks. Color accuracy is an important part of our workflow and the ability to match image color to physical products is a requirement. Strong candidates will be creative problem solvers, reverse engineers, and efficiency aficionados. Daily responsibilities go beyond retouching/editing to include client communication, project management, digital asset management, job intake and tracking, quality control, and delivery of files to client specifications. As with every role at Vision On, the retouchers' ultimate responsibility is to ensure client work is delivered on-brand, on time, all the time. Vision On is very team-oriented. We work together. Responsibilities:

  • Follow preset company workflows and retouch to the specific aesthetics for individual clients
  • Color match to product, preexisting imagery, hex and PMS codes 
  • QC, Prep, and run actions and scripts associated with jobs for final delivery
  • Process raw files in Capture One
  • Monitor production-related communication channels 
  • Review incoming and outgoing jobs to ensure all assets are in place
  • Communicate clear instructions to outside vendors 
  • Download and upload files via FTP or cloud services (Dropbox, Box, WeTransfer, Gdrive)
  • Proactively communicate job-related challenges to their supervisor


Technical Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years industry experience with expert knowledge of Photoshop tools (Liquifying and transforming, advanced masking techniques, creating and using actions, using smart objects), color correction, compositing and skin retouching
  • Working knowledge of related Adobe Suite products and their applications (Bridge, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Capture One 
  • Working knowledge of Apple OS, Microsoft Office, FTP software, and Google Workspace

  • Possess a production mindset with a focus on repeatability and consistency
  • Self-Organizing; able to prioritize daily workload in connection with client and/or internal deadlines

  • Communicate standards and expectations to co-workers or external vendors
  • Possess the determination required to solve tough retouching and production challenges 
  • Ability to work independently and within a dynamic team structure
  • Flexible; able to adapt to unexpected changes in workload and or job priorities throughout the day 
  • Clearly communicates retouching concerns with clients not familiar with Photoshop 
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously


Relevant Work Experience:

  • 7-10 years of e-commerce and campaign retouching experience 


Education Requirements: 

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in Photography, Graphic Design or related Digital Art
