Youth Counselor

Job Purpose:Develops responsible youth by identifies community problems and needs; counseling individuals and groups; developing developmental resources.Duties: * Determines youths' needs in the community by studying problems and unhelpful influences; interviewing youths; conferring with people who have information about the situation; evaluating community resources. * Prepares community plan by identifying an integrated development and prevention program; identifying required resources; developing a timetable. * Provides resources by contacting agencies and support groups; writing and submitting grants; disseminating information about availability; referring individuals. * Reduces and prevents delinquency by counseling individuals and groups; channeling energy into appropriate activities; developing personal and interpersonal skills. * Integrates solutions by coordinating information and actions among community authorities and agencies. * Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks. * Enhances social services and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.Skills/Qualifications:Connecting with Children, Motivating Others, Persuasion, Listening, Verbal Communication, Emphasizing Excellence, Supports Diversity, Results Driven, Quality Focus, Documentation Skills, Resolving Conflict
