Position Summary: The Drafter III will work directly with designers, engineers, manufacturing and service to produce a detailed drawing set for custom components. Prepare detailed working drawings of machinery and mechanical devices that include dimensions, fastening methods and other technical information.

Key Roles / Responsibilities:

  • Works under the direction of the Engineering Manager.
  • Create 3D assemblies and parts using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Transforms initial rough production designs into working drawings using Inventor.
  • Reviews engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
  • Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final design.
  • Provides routine drafting support, prepares various drawings derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, and sketches.
  • Prepares and delivers fabrication and installation drawings on time and with accuracy.
  • Utilizes established techniques, standards, and tools (software) to prepare technical drawings.
  • Coordinates with engineers and designers to compete projects.
  • Assigns drawing numbers via Dynamics 365 ERP system.
  • Maintains open and active communication to ensure accuracy and scheduled completion of drawings.
  • Works with Document Control and Planning.
  • Troubleshoots design problems and fabrication issues.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
  • Associate degree (required).
  • 4+ years of experience with 3D modeling software (Inventor preferably).
  • 5+ years of experience with drafting for manufacturing and/or machinery (required).
  • Proficient with terminology, methods, practices, techniques, and nomenclature of mechanical, and structural engineering drafting using computers (required).
  • Ability to interpret drawings and redlines (required).
  • Candidate must display highest degree of integrity.
  • Proficient in the English language.
Working Conditions:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Positions self to install equipment, including under desks.
  • Must be able to walk up a single flight of stairs several times a day and, occasionally climb up on platforms or equipment to test or take measurements.
  • Moves throughout the building to access files.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
