Bio-Rad is looking for an experienced Machinist / Model/Prototype Technician who gets excited about product development, and is directly involved in the product development process working with our engineering group. Technical Opportunity: You will be a part of the R&D Engineering Team, a multi-disciplinary team developing instrument systems solutions for Bio-Rad`s Life Sciences portfolio, including the biomedical imaging, PCR, microscopy, chromatography, and cell sorting instrument platforms. You will be part of a larger R&D team that has deep talent in mechatronic systems integrating mechanical, electrical, optical and systems engineering with chemistry, biology and software. You will partner and work with talented engineers, chemists, and biologists to develop integrated systems that promote discoveries and advances in life science. This work will span from a product`s research stage through its sunset. How You`ll Make An Impact: You will be working on products that saves lives by supporting the mechanical design, development and documentation of life science products developed in an R&D environment. This includes products for: Gene Expression, Protein Purification, Protein Analysis, and Cell Analysis. You will impact manufacturing Interfacing with cross functional teams, you will be developing instrument systems from concept through detailed design, manufacturing release, instrument verification, and product launch. What You Bring: Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Work Experience: 10-15 years minimum related experience working as a machinist/toolmaker in creating prototypes as well as fabricating fixtures, jigs, and gauges required. Experience with Mastercam required, experience with Solidworks required. Strong CNC machining background. Experience with machine lathes and other associated supporting machinery. Experience in a rapid prototype environment. Familiarity using the 3D printing process. Knowledge of machining a variety of materials such as aluminum, mild,alloy and tool steel and plastics. Ability to machine to typical tolerances of +/- 0.005" as well as press fit interference tolerances. Understanding of basic GD&T is req'd. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
