The Application Engineer III, Sr. Peoplesoft Developer – Campus Solutions, reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems, including coding, testing, debugging, and installing to support the university's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and business applications systems. Assists with the development and maintenance of ERP and business application systems. Ensures that software and services can be integrated into the ERP system. Designs new modules to improve system efficiency. Works on complex business application projects, developing efficient and effective processes, and ensuring client requirements are met. Provides technical support for ERP Systems (PeopleSoft), including testing, design, analysis, software upgrades, and problem resolution. Ensures the reliable performance of learning management systems. Troubleshoots and resolves any ERP-related hardware, software, user access, or other problems. Coordinates new software releases, fixes, and upgrades with technical teams and users. Recommends new features or changes to configuration/workflows based on user feedback. Assists in the formulation of procedures and best practices for users of learning management systems and related instructional technology. Responsibilities Application Development & Maintenance Design, develop, integrate, and maintain custom applications and system interfaces, particularly in support of ERP systems. Use SDLC methodologies to guide development and ensure quality through testing and documentation. Troubleshoot issues and apply patches or fixes in coordination with technical and database teams. Application Services Administration Administer production and non-production application environments. Perform system upgrades, patching, monitoring, and security administration tasks. Maintain documentation, define performance metrics, and conduct audits to ensure system integrity and compliance. Business Analysis & Functional Enhancements Collaborate with users and departments to analyze business processes and identify opportunities for improvement. Evaluate and recommend application enhancements or new tools to improve service management. Gather system requirements and communicate development progress to stakeholders. Teamwork, Leadership & Collaboration Lead assigned projects, guide team members, and foster a collaborative work environment. Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and managed service providers. Participate in audits and support the implementation of recommended controls. General Responsibilities Support the application engineering team under supervisor guidance. Promote documentation best practices and mentor others. Perform other related duties as assigned. Salary The projected salary for this position is $112,000 to $117,000 annually. Formal Education A Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related discipline is preferred. A Master’s degree is preferred; two years’ experience may substitute for a Master’s degree. Seven to ten (7–10) years of experience as an Application Developer or Systems Developer may substitute for a degree. Required Experience 5–7 years minimum experience in application analysis, design, software development, and systems implementation. Strong knowledge of PeopleSoft technologies – PeopleTools, PeopleCode, Application Engine, SQR, Integration Broker, etc. Demonstrated experience as a SQL developer writing SQL code, scripts, and using report tools. Experience developing interfaces between ERP and ancillary applications (hosted, cloud-based) using PeopleSoft Technologies (Application Engine/SQR, web services, etc.). Experience developing and maintaining ERP applications (PeopleSoft, Banner, or similar). Experience installing and configuring COTS applications in a multi-tier environment, including integration with ERP applications. Desired Experience Project planning and project management experience. Experience with PeopleSoft Finance 9.2, PeopleSoft HRMS 9.2, and/or Campus Solutions 9.2. Higher education experience is a plus. Excellent ability to organize information, manage tasks, and use available tools to contribute effectively. Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certification Knowledge of IT concepts, principles, methods, and practices. Information security principles and methods. Application installation, configuration, and administration in a multi-tier environment. Software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles, methods, and practices. Integration of technology with pedagogy. Operational task automation through programming and scripting principles. Performance monitoring principles and methods. Relational database principles, methods, and practices. Principles, methods, and tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources. PeopleSoft Campus Solutions preferred. Additional Certifications Oracle PeopleTools Tools and Technology – e.g., PeopleTools Certified Implementation Specialist. Project management certification (PMP). Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional. Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) Data Platform [SQL Server]. Information security certification (CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CASP, CISSP).
