Provides support to the various manufacturing units by identifying, engineering, and implementing mechanical solutions or improvements to equipment.**Essential Functions**:*Project Management* - Support overall mechanical systems and management of change, work closely with Operations and Maintenance personnel to troubleshoot mechanical (rotating and stationary equipment) problems. Provide second-level troubleshooting when equipment issues are beyond the technical knowledge of the Maintenance Technician.*Engineering Support* – Act as Mechanical Resource with the Engineering Department for site capital projects to ensure that site policies, procedures, standards and specifications, and M&R needs are met.*Technical Support* – When required, draft and submit Concept Papers for capital project ideas, write and submit sanction documentation for maintenance related capital projects (repair/replacements), and mark and approve drawings when required. Execute Management of Change (MOC) and complete design to define and implement improvements correctly and safely. Provide checkout and start-up support of facilities to meet production and business needs.*SHE Department Support* – Participate in safety audits, safety investigations, keeping up to date on safety manual changes, participate in area Process Hazard Analysis/Reviews when required.*Administrative* – Create and maintain documentation, files, procedures, and drawings to ensure integrity and continuity of site rotating and stationary equipment.*Decision Making*: Participate in related networks and user groups to leverage learnings across the organization. Develop an understanding of the process chemistry and unit operations to enable Mechanical Maintenance troubleshooting. Work with Operations and Maintenance groups to ensure all maintenance activities meet both internal MCA-SNL Engineering Standards, external regulatory requirements with respect to Health, Safety and Environment to ensure that Company Policies and obligations in these areas are in full compliance. The list provided here is not all inclusive.*Supervision Given*: Extensive oversight of contract project workers. *Accuracy, Accountability and Control*: Responsible for ensuring mechanical aspects of all new, modified or altered equipment meet design criteria, internal MCA-SNL standards, and external regulatory requirements. *Internal Contacts*: Contacts are made with no supervision. Tact, judgment, and discretion must be exercised to explain, interpret, and influence others regarding delicate or sensitive matters. *External Contacts*: Contacts are made with no supervision. Improper handling could affect results or be detrimental to the company’s image.The job holder leads M&R improvements in a manner such that production objectives are achieved by supporting the processes needed to achieve sustainable reliability at the lowest asset lifecycle costs. It requires partnering with their peers in Operations to drive a proactive approach to asset management. The job holder is expected to exercise a great deal of flexibility in their work to help facilitate the success of the business.
