Our Christian nonprofit healthcare organization is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Care Physician to join our team in providing essential medical services to the underserved population in a rural town in Hawaii. As a Primary Care Physician, you will play a crucial role in improving the health and well-being of the local community, where access to healthcare services may be limited.

Job Title: Primary Care Provider

Department: Clinical

Reports To: Medical Director

Supervises: Nurses and MAs

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Care: Provide comprehensive and patient-centered primary care services to individuals and families in the community, focusing on disease prevention, health promotion, and the management of chronic conditions.
  2. Collaborative Care: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to address the unique healthcare needs of the local population. Collaborate with specialty providers across the islands to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate care.
  3. Community Outreach: Engage in community outreach programs to raise awareness about health issues and promote preventive measures.
  4. Culturally Sensitive Care: Demonstrate a deep understanding and respect for the diverse cultural backgrounds of the community members.
  5. Electronic Health Records (EHR): Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records, ensuring seamless communication with the healthcare team.
  6. Quality Improvement: Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare services.
  7. Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies in the community and provide immediate care until additional help arrives.
  8. Performs other related duties as required.

Education: Medical degree from an accredited medical school. Be board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Possess an active and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Hawaii.

Experience: Demonstrate experience in providing primary care services, preferably in rural or underserved settings.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge :

  1. Knowledge of common rural health issues and diseases prevalent in the area.
  2. Proficient in clinical assessment, medication administration, and patient care coordination.
  3. Understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance (HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid).
  4. Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  5. Awareness of the unique challenges and barriers rural communities face in accessing healthcare.

Skills & Abilities:

  1. Clinical expertise in handling a wide range of medical conditions and emergencies.
  2. Ability to diagnose and treat patients with limited resources and diagnostic tools.
  3. Compassion and Empathy: Exhibit genuine care and empathy towards patients.
  4. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Flexibility and adaptability in managing the unique challenges of delivering healthcare services in a rural setting.
  6. Understanding of preventive healthcare measures to promote community well-being.
  7. Capacity to work independently and make critical decisions.
  8. Familiarity with basic procedures and minor surgeries.
  9. Cultural sensitivity and respect for local customs and traditions.
  10. Willingness to participate in community engagement and outreach activities.

Physical Requirements:

Medical staff should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations efficiently. This includes performing physically demanding tasks, such as assisting patients with mobility and managing minor surgical procedures.

All staff are expected to keep their work areas clean and free of clutter.

Position Wage and Benefits:
