Summary

The Press Operator is responsible for the set up and operation of a HP Indigo 6900 digital press in accordance with the printing specifications and customer requirements/expectations. This position interacts with varying levels of internal and external personnel requiring the ability to clearly communicate both verbally and written. Effectiveness in this role requires an in-depth knowledge of full four-color printing technology including how to start, prepare and color test four color printing requirements; safety regulations including the safe use of chemicals related of the printing process; record keeping techniques; standard software.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

Ensures that product is printed according to specifications.
Reviews job tickets and verifies stock are available and used as specified.
Pulls spec, verify colors, stock, and special instructions.
Loads the job ticket specified type of material.
Adjusts the press to the paper size and feeds the paper through the press
Completes all start-up checks, verifies scan ability of bar code, and gets start approval.
Completes in-process inspections; follows job order tickets.
Finishes job by verifying start to end approval.
Closes out job by completing paperwork and placing in ticket with product.
Performs general maintenance to press.
Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
Digitally manipulating color calibration set-up to meet expectations for color target.
Reviewing all proofs and final product samples produced on digital equipment before releasing to internal or external customers.
Maintaining inventory of supplies and parts.
Conduct regular and special maintenance on equipment to achieve maximum machine performance based on equipment specifications and acquired knowledge of machine operations. Record maintenance and service calls in maintenance log book as required



Qualifications:

HS diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.) + HP Certification Level 1
Minimum of 2 years in the printing industry
Basic math skills to be able to read, comprehend and calculate measurements including fractions, decimals, and metric numbers.
Proven Basic computer skills
Practical knowledge of label printing terminology and practices.
Read and comprehend documents such as job tickets, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, and work instructions.
Must be able to work overtime as required by workload and customer mandated deadlines on short notice.
Required to wear hearing and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties in the pressroom.
Stand for a long period of time and stoop and kneel frequently.
Handle, feel and reach for items in and around press area,
Lifting and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Excellent Vision: close vision, distance and color vision to distinguish color variations, peripheral and depth perception as well as the ability to adjust focus.
