Pay Range Base pay range: $75,000.00/yr - $105,000.00/yr Job Summary Reporting to the Major Gifts Program Manager, this individual will effectively cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors to retain and increase giving, in addition to identifying, cultivating, and soliciting top‑tiered prospects – supporting both DC and NJ major donor files. Responsibilities Manages the daily operations of the major gifts program, inclusive of specialized communication monitoring during campaign reporting (thanks, updates, further solicitation). Maintains personal portfolio of major donors for outreach, solicitation and cultivation, as well as non‑major donors who are confirmed planned giving donors. Coordinates outreach for senior leadership and Board Members to current and prospective donors. Works with communications program, events team, and operations team to ensure proper handling of major donor gifts and records. Provides writing support for stewardship needs and manages communication plan for partner Giving Docs. Updates organization materials to benefit the Major Gifts program as needed. Ensures gifts are properly acknowledged, tracked, and reported on. Acknowledges donors for gifts in a personal, timely manner. Coordinates with the operations team to issue formal acknowledgements and with the finance team to ensure gifts are spent in accordance with donors’ intentions. Regularly communicates with donors to share the impact of gifts, including drafting of formal reports. Conducts high‑level donor research and prospect identification for moves management support. Facilitates DonorSearch screening for both major donor files. Creates and manages VIP donor profiles for all major gifts team members, CDO and CEO. Collaborates with Institutional Giving team to cultivate individual donors within corporate groups, maintain welcome materials and participate in events. Guides and supports programmatic staff involved in fundraising, utilizing key leaders’ time and talents appropriately. Tracks donor moves management in Raiser's Edge and uploads regular gift reports to maintain each campus’s tracker. Assists with event implementation for major donor and planned giving donor engagement. Oversees data logistics of large communication initiatives throughout the year for major donors, planned giving donors and sustainers. Always represents HRA professionally and courteously, providing quality service to the public, volunteers, and employees. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. About You: Skills & Qualifications Our ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the non‑profit community and a minimum of 7 years of experience in development. Additionally, You Should Have Strong interpersonal relations skills, emotional intelligence and orientation toward customer service. Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate ideas clearly, concisely and professionally. Keen attention to detail. Demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills. Ability to apply critical thinking to solve problems in an everyday work setting. Ability to work independently, but also collaboratively – fostering teamwork and addressing conflict constructively and timely. Ability to develop, manage and evaluate programs that align individual program goals with strategic goals and objectives and to formulate recommendations to improve program delivery and management. Strong time and project management skills, and the ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines. 5-7 years’ experience managing a portfolio of mid‑level or major donors. Solid experience with Microsoft Office, Luminate, Google Suite, customer relationship management (CRM) software, Raiser's Edge and NXT preferred. Passion for the HRA mission and a commitment to caring for all animals, free of judgment or bias. Qualifications – Education & Experience Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in managing a donor portfolio or sales pipeline, or equal experience in another relationship building and revenue‑producing capacity. Where You'll Work: Physical Requirements & Work Environment Availability and ability to work occasional weekend or weeknight hours. Annual travel to Madison for major gifts support. Regularly sits at a computer station and operates electronic equipment. Ability to be comfortable working with cats, dogs, small animals, reptiles, fish and wildlife. May be exposed to deceased, fractious, or aggressive animals; hostile or irate persons; zoonotic or other diseases; unpleasant noises, odors, or sights; and extreme temperatures.
