Pharmacy Operations Manager Accountable for the day‑to‑day non‑clinical pharmacy operations, ensuring an efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Serves as a full‑time certified pharmacy technician. Customer Experience Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer complaints and responds to requests in a timely manner. Answers non‑clinical questions and models customer service best practices. Builds strong customer relationships by anticipating needs and proactively offering services. Enhances customer experience by increasing focus on healthcare services. Operations Assists the pharmacist in patient care activities such as registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, and verification (where allowed by law). Completes patient and physician calls under pharmacist supervision (where allowed by law). Assists with healthcare service offerings, including vaccines, health screenings, and other permissible services. Delegates, directs, and assigns non‑clinical work in accordance with company policies, state and federal laws, and regulations. Prepares and files reports and records required by the company and governmental agencies. Manages core pharmacy workflow, schedules daily activities, and recommends allocation of pharmacy hours. Ensures the pharmacy is clean, orderly, and stocked with adequate supplies. Handles inventory management tasks that do not require pharmacist licensure and manages annual inventory preparation. Completes non‑clinical patient calls. Drives technology/process roll‑outs, champions change, and engages the team in action planning. Maintains equipment operation and maintenance and ensures recordkeeping and security safeguards are in place. Adheres to Good Faith Dispensing policies during prescription dispensing and understands related legal responsibilities. Applies company asset protection techniques and reports security concerns to the Pharmacy Manager. Communicates prescription errors to the pharmacist and follows company policies on errors and the Continuous Quality Improvement Program. Processes insurance claims accurately to resolve customer issues and prevent payment rejections, following up with insurers and providers as needed. Supports the Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service. Manages the Community Outreach Portal and coordinates pharmacist assignments to off‑site immunization clinics and community events. Builds and sustains relationships with retail partnerships. People & Performance Management Leads performance management of technicians, making decisions regarding discipline, suspension, termination, and recommendations. Follows constructive discipline policy and holds technicians accountable for attendance, timeliness, and compliance with laws. Engages technicians through team member engagement and action planning. Handles technician hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling. Monitors and ensures timely completion of technician training. Identifies gaps in operational knowledge and supports training via hands‑on instruction or learning modules. Assists in monitoring licensure, registration, and certification status of pharmacy staff. Ensures selection, recruitment, record retention, and training procedures comply with company policy and legal requirements. Training & Personal Development Makes sure PTCB certification is maintained through the designated training program or state‑required certification. Enhances knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare. Obtains necessary certifications, education credits, and training such as LTMP e‑modules as required. Seeks professional development via constructive feedback and mentorship from the Healthcare Supervisor. Communication Communicates with the pharmacy team and relays messages from the support center or key emails. Participates in key store/pharmacy meetings, including 5‑minute meetings and weekly check‑ins with the Store Manager. Basic Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). At least one year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting. Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations). Preferred Qualifications Previous people‑management or leadership experience. Previous work experience with Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation on the last performance evaluation.
