Survey Manager – Leadership & Data Excellence NV5 is seeking a Survey Manager who will lead with precision and purpose. As a Survey Manager you will guide talented teams, drive data collection strategies, and deliver high‑quality insights that shape real‑world outcomes. Responsibilities Lead and mentor survey teams to ensure smooth execution from planning to delivery. Own all phases of survey projects—design, coordination, data collection, reporting—ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and budget alignment. Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to translate complex data into actionable reports that support strategic decisions. Plan projects: develop timelines, resource allocation, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies. Recruit, train, and supervise survey teams; assign tasks and provide guidance throughout the project. Determine appropriate survey methods and tools (questionnaires, GPS, total stations, LiDAR, etc.) and ensure accurate, efficient data collection. Implement quality control measures; review data for errors and discrepancies; take corrective actions as needed. Oversee data analysis and interpretation; collaborate with data analysts or specialists. Prepare comprehensive survey reports presenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations; ensure reports meet client or regulatory requirements. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards; obtain necessary permits and approvals. Monitor project budgets and expenditures; identify cost‑saving opportunities and manage finances effectively. Maintain regular communication with clients and stakeholders; address client requests and scope changes. Maintain organized project documentation, including field notes, data records, and project files. Stay current with surveying technology and equipment; ensure tools and software are up to date. Promote and enforce safety procedures to protect team members and the environment. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, geography, civil engineering, or related field. Utility industry experience required. Professional licensure or certification as required by industry or jurisdiction. Proven experience managing survey projects with a track record of success. Strong knowledge of surveying methods, equipment, and software. Excellent project management and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting. Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and safety protocols. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Compensation & Benefits The pay range for this position in California is $140,000 to $170,000 per year, plus the potential for restricted stock units, medical, dental, life insurance, PTO, 401(k), and professional development opportunities. Base pay may vary based on location and candidate experience.
