**General Purpose:** The Custodian is responsible for cleaning, repairing and maintaining assigned buildings, equipment, systems and grounds in compliance with all safety, health and school rules and regulations to provide students with an invitational school environment that is a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn and develop.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

* Turn off security system when entering assigned facility. Turn on security system when exiting assigned facility at the end of shift.

* Observe temperature conditions while opening buildings, and complete a visual check of the main equipment room. Report any abnormal conditions to the Facilities Manager.

* Unlock building doors each day as directed.

* Raise flag daily as weather permits.

* Clean all assigned areas daily to include sanitizing bathroom, restocking bathroom supplies, vacuuming and cleaning carpets, clean and maintain tiled floors, dust all room surfaces, collect and dispose of trash, clean all glass surfaces, and clean blackboards and whiteboards.

* Maintain playground and playground equipment (elementary only).

* Monitor all areas of the buildings for proper cleanliness and clean areas as needed.

* Maintain and monitor supply room and deliver supplies as directed.

* Clean cafeteria tables and floors after each lunch shift.

* Buff cafeteria floors two times per week.

* Transport and or retrieve refreshments, foods, or equipment to designated area for meetings as assigned.

* Deliver and retrieve supplies to or from each campus as directed.

* Report to work one hour early, or as directed by Facilities Manager, on snow days to clean and salt sidewalks.

* Pick up trash, sweep sidewalks, rake and pick up leaves, water flowers and plants, clean fence lines, and complete any other exterior grounds work assigned by the Facilities Manager.

* When special events are held at assigned facility, complete extra cleaning before and after the event and assist with any set up or breakdown of equipment.

* Report to work in appropriate work attire as directed and maintain proper grooming.

* Complete minor maintenance repairs or grounds-keeping tasks in school buildings as assigned.

* Be available for overtime in emergency situations and for extra cleaning projects with proper notice.

* Report to any building to complete custodial, maintenance, or grounds-keeping work as directed by the Facilities Manager.

* Complete additional duties as required for short periods of time due to unusual circumstances.

* Positively represents the school and its mission to the students, parents, colleagues, and general public

* Ability to work cooperatively with school staff and administration

**Other Duties and Responsibilities:** As needed or assigned.

**Minimum Requirements:**

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Basic math, writing, and communication skills.

Technical knowledge concerning maintenance and custodial techniques including standard methods for materials, tools and safety practices.

Ability to operate and maintain all types of custodial equipment, hand tools and snow removal equipment.

Basic knowledge of health and safety codes, custodial chemicals and OSHA requirements.

Valid Colorado drivers license preferred.

**Experience:**

1-2 years experience in custodial or maintenance work.

**Hours:**

**During the regular school year when students are present:**Monday - Thursday: 2:30 P.M. - 11:00 P.M.

Friday: 1:00 P.M. - 9:30 P.M.

**During the summer and periods during the school year when students are not present:**

Mondy - Friday: 7:00 A.M. - 3:30 P.M.

**Salary Range:**

$12.32 per hour.
