The role ensures programs are designed to meet the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well‑being of each resident. Essential Job Duties Create and maintain an environment in the community that promotes resident and family participation in activities. Develop, implement, and lead resident programs according to standards and resident preferences. Create and submit a monthly calendar of events. Create and submit a monthly newsletter for residents, staff, and families. Maintain social media under the umbrella of MBK’s home office. Coordinate with other team members to plan, execute, and attend special functions such as holidays and celebratory events. Conduct surveys of residents to determine activity interests. Facilitate a resident activity planning committee to ensure resident participation in calendar development. Assist with safe loading, unloading, and transporting of residents onto and off community vehicles and drive residents as needed. Oversee scheduling of transportation for recreational and medical outings. Evaluate the transportation program regularly to ensure customer satisfaction. Ensure all state, federal, and local regulations for vehicle safety, credentials, and licensing are met. Recruit, hire, train, motivate, and supervise department staff in accordance with company policies, procedures, and core values. Develop and train volunteers in the community to assist with activities or special events. Track volunteer participation and maintain volunteer files per state regulations. Arrange for outside vendors to conduct programs and process invoices promptly. Manage and track budget spending and goals. Encourage and invite resident participation in all resident activities. Work with the director of health services to ensure caregiver involvement in programs. Facilitate and conduct resident programs within connections for living, if applicable. Assist in community marketing efforts through positive interactions with residents, families, and guests. Alert care staff when there is a medical or care need of a resident. Ensure resident information such as traditions and preferences are collected per policy. Non‑Essential Job Duties Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by the Executive Director. Instruct visitors to sign in when entering the community. Obtain and maintain all state‑required certifications and licensure. Meet with prospective residents to review enrichment programs and offerings. Conduct community tours for prospects and families. Supervisory / Management Responsibilities Activities Assistant: 1–3 employees. Transportation (drivers): 1–3 employees. Certification in Recreational Activity Leadership: APNCC / NAAPCC Certification or similar. Prior related work experience in a similar environment is highly desirable. Prior supervisory or lead working experience is preferable. Working familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite programs (Publisher, Photoshop) is highly desirable. Bachelor’s Degree in recreational therapy, gerontology, music, art, or similar is preferable. Compliance and understanding of all regulations regarding residents’ rights. Requirements High school diploma or GED. Completion of, or ability to obtain, state‑approved Activity Director certification. Must be over the age of 18. Background clearance is required (per government regulations). Negative TB test results are mandatory. Excellent communication skills, including speaking, writing, and reading English. Solid PC skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, email) and office equipment (scanners, copiers, fax machines). Maintain a professional demeanor at all times, especially while interacting with team members, residents, family members, and visitors. Present a positive image by following all grooming and dress standards. Hold a valid driver’s license (required by the state and/or vehicle capacity) and valid insurance. Physical Demands Mobile and able to perform physical requirements: bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motion. Ability to sit and work at a computer for long periods. Intermittent movement throughout the workday and between community spaces. Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs. and push up to 20 lbs. as necessary.
