ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES Electrical/Electronics Division Chief Maintenance Operations Chief Electrician, Chief Electrician, Senior POSITION SUMMARY This position performs standardized electrical repair duties requiring a basic knowledge of electrical/electronic theory while becoming familiar with high voltage equipment. The individual is expected to identify and remedy problems using independent judgment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Inspects, repairs, and maintains electrical systems and equipment. 2. Locates and determines electrical malfunctions. 3. Repairs the electrical components of pneumatic hydraulic or electronic equipment. Ability to use technical manuals, electrical schematics, and one-line diagrams. Assists in the maintenance of files and records of plant electrical equipment and work order management system. 4. Performs electrical preventive maintenance. 5. Maintains calibration and repair schedules for electrical test equipment. 6. Assumes the duties of Senior Electrician as required. 7. Maybe assigned some lead duties of more junior level electricians to include training and communicating routine instructions. Ability to convey and receive information in written and verbal forms to others. Maintain good communications with supervisors and co-workers. 8. Performs all duties while observing safety guidelines and security measures as established by the Authority. 9. May be responsible for responding to various emergency situations, including after-hours, as directed by supervisor. 10. Employees assigned to this position are classified as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to report to work when scheduled during departmental and/or emergency situations including, but not limited to, extended periods of inclement weather when travel may be difficult. This position is essential because, in the absence of sufficient personnel, the plant cannot operate safely. WORK LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES Regularly leads the work of other employees. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY No significant financial responsibility. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION High school diploma or GED. EXPERIENCE Possess a Journeyman Electrician license or four years of experience as an Apprentice Electrician. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Texas driver's license. Class C Surface Water Treatment Operator License within three years. KNOWLEDGE Must be knowledgeable of electrical theory and practices. Be knowledgeable of safety pertaining to electrical distribution systems and equipment. Basic computer skills to enter and maintain information in a computerized maintenance management system. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Have the ability to read schematics and one-line drawings. GUIDANCE RECEIVED Follows general instructions and established precedents. Follows general supervisory instructions, as well as policies and precedents open to judgment in some areas and more specific guidelines, policies, and procedures in others. Based on knowledge of policies, precedents and procedures may regularly assist others with standard work methods and problems. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires passing a physical and physical ability assessment specific to this position. WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions include exposure to extreme weather, odor, noise, chemical hazards, gases, and dust, standing for prolonged periods of time, walking up and down several flights of stairs, climbing and descending ladders, working with low/high voltage, working at heights, and working in tight or confined spaces. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED Electrical and testing equipment, PPE, hand tools, power tools, generators, pumps, and trucks.
