A Day in the Life
The Reinsurance Analyst uses their analytical, operational, technical, and problem solving skills to analyze and administer Western & Southern’s reinsurance programs, which are key to the financial and strategic success of the organization. Develop your insurance, reinsurance, business analysis, problem solving, project management, and communication skills with our close, collaborative team. Gain visibility and exposure to several key functions of Western & Southern, such as Actuarial, Administration, Claims, Information Technology, Law, and Underwriting.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate determination and reporting of reinsured amounts and reinsurance premiums.
- Work cooperatively with W&S’s reinsurers to ensure accurate and timely payment of reinsurance claims.
- Collaborate with multi-functional team to implement new reinsurance programs and enhance administration of existing programs.
- Develop deep understanding of reinsurance and how reinsurance values are determined and reported. Use this expertise to research and respond to reinsurance-related questions from both internal and external groups.
- Analyze, understand, and communicate reinsurance trends.
- Understand back-office processes and their impact on reinsurance.
Required Competencies and Skills:
- Proven strong analytical skills, including demonstrated experience identifying and quantifying problems and providing effective resolutions.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to develop a deep understanding of a subject matter. Proven desire to increase knowledge beyond understanding how to complete a task.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong, collaborative professional relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization and time management ability.
- Proven experience in spreadsheet and/or database applications.
Desired Competencies and Skills:
- Prior insurance/reinsurance experience.
- Understanding of accounting principles and business concepts.
- Prior experience with the TAI reinsurance administration software.
