**Job Summary**

Semi Trailer Jockey Drivers operate a jockey truck or tractor on company property to facilitate shipping and receiving functions by moving semi trailers throughout the yard and dock area. Semi-trailer moves are called out to the jockey, the jockey verifies the correct semi-trailer or door number, and then hooks the semi-trailer up to the truck and moves it to the designated location.

**Principal Duties & Responsibilities**

* Perform required daily inspections of equipment before operation

* Move semi-trailers and/or parts from the yard to receiving and shipping doors

* Shuttle semi-trailers in and out of open docks

* Maintain necessary communication via radio

* Assist other groups in the location of parts as needed

* Mentor other jockey drivers as needed

* Physical requirements

+ Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; walk; talk or hear; lift up to 10 lbs.

+ Occasionally required to stand, climb or balance; lift up to 50 lbs.

+ Must pass a lift test, DOT physical, and DOT drug screen

* Work environment

+ Regularly exposed to working near moving or mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration

+ Occasionally exposed to wet or humid (non-weather) conditions and the risk of electrical shock

+ Outdoor work environmentenclosed vehicle protected from extreme weather conditions

+ Loud noise level

* Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures; report all unsafe activity to supervisor and/or human resources

* Performing other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**

* Education

+ High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required

* Experience

+ 6 months of jockey OR semi experience required

* Certification

+ Valid Drivers license required

+ CDL preferred
