Temporary Kitchen Worker

SUMMARY OF ROLE

This position is responsible for assisting the Kitchen Manager or Chef in the preparation of dishes, maintenance and cleanliness of the kitchen, and serving presentation as is necessary for the efficient and effective operation of a commercial kitchen and dining area.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a safe, professional, organized and efficient environment in the kitchen and dining areas
• Sort and stack clean dishes
• Carry clean dishes to cook's line and other proper storage areas
• Rewash soiled dishes before delivering
• Change dishwater in dish machine every hour
• Wash pots, pans and trays by hand
• Set up or break down dishwashing area
• Clean and roll/unroll mats
• Fill/empty soak tubs with cleaning/sanitizing solutions
• Sweep and mop floors
• Assemble and disassemble dish machine
• Breakdown boxes and remove trash to dumpster and recycling
• Sweep up trash around exterior of restaurant and restroom cleaning as directed
• Maintain compliance with Virginia and Montgomery County Health Department regulations to ensure essential food safety practices
• Other duties and projects as assigned by team leader

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity of fingers, hands and wrists; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the phone; have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds.
