POSITION TITLE: Cook

PAY/HOURS: $13 - $14/hr, 40 hrs weekly, 5:00am - 1:00pm Monday -Friday

REPORTS TO: Kitchen Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for preparing and cooking meals according to the menu or recipes provided; ensuring that food preparation areas are clean and hygienic; and monitoring and maintaining inventory levels of food and supplies. Follows proper food safety and handling procedures.

Kitchen duties include: food prep, cooking, baking, assisting in cleaning kitchen, cookware and pans, sweeping and mopping.

Physical demands include stooping, reaching, lifting, and carrying bulk food and cases up to 50 pounds. The working environment is warm and humid with sudden temperature changes, slippery floors, and moving parts and sharp edges of commercial kitchen equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Prepare meals according to production schedule and standardized recipes.
  2. Assists with packing homebound meals and bulk packing as needed.
  3. Follow instructions on paperwork and complete daily paperwork accurately.
  4. Sweeping and mopping part of daily tasks.
  5. Assist with stocking and cleaning of kitchen and lounge area.
  6. Must work cooperatively and harmoniously with all co-workers and appropriate staff.
  7. Abide by FTHRA rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: 2 -3 years' work experience in commercial kitchen/ restaurant preferred. Knowledge of quantity food production practices: including sanitation, safety and inventory control. Ability to work well with others and follow detailed instructions easily and accurately. High school diploma or equivalent desired. Three years of demonstrated success in quantity food production preferred. Must be able to read and follow instructions. Reliability and accuracy is a must. Must be able to confidently drive an extended cargo van or similar vehicle. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record.
