Principal Systems Engineer – SAIC Location: Colorado Springs, CO, US Clearance: Secret (minimum) Schedule: Full-time, Day Job Travel: No Potential for Remote Work: Yes Job ID: 2511388 | Date Posted: 2025-11-06 Description SAIC seeks a highly experienced and energetic Principal Systems Engineer to support the U.S. Space Force, Space Systems Command, in performing operational maintenance and sustainment of ground‑based radars critical to U.S. and Allied strategic missile surveillance, warning, defense, and space surveillance missions. The Systems Engineer will work with the government customer, the SAIC Program Manager, and the Chief Engineer to plan, develop, and deliver PARCS and UEWR radar hardware and software modifications in response to change requests and deficiency reports. This position is located on‑site in Colorado Springs. Job Duties Convert product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Develop requirements and standardize BOE, SRR, PDR processes. Develop processes and aid in process mapping to ensure standardized and repeatable best practices. Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software or engineering specifications. Provide detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, and tools for efficient solutions to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of related experience. Active Secret clearance. Ability to design and architect complex, scalable, and resilient enterprise‑level systems from concept through deployment. Strong systems thinking and understanding of how changes in one component impact the entire system. Familiarity with SysML and MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler or similar. Desired Experience Experience sustaining ground‑based radar systems (GBRs) or other strategic warning and surveillance radar systems such as UEWR or PAVE PAWS. Knowledge of the Integrated Tactical Warning and Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) mission and associated enterprise. Exceptional ability to diagnose complex technical issues and develop data‑driven solutions. Experience maintaining national security mission networks. Experience with containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes) and knowledge of DevOps methodologies / CI/CD pipelines. Salary Target salary range: $120,001 – $160,000. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
