Per Diem

Primary Function: Responsible for rendering professional nursing services, either directly or indirectly, for a defined group of patients according to the hospitals philosophy of patient care.

Job Qualifications and Specifications: ICU Registered Nurses are expected to have:

* I.V. certification.


* The ability to recognize all significant cardiac arrhythmia.


* A clear understanding of symptoms and clinical findings for myocardial infarction and its complications.


* An understanding of the needs of the critically-ill medical and surgical patient.


* A thorough knowledge of the psychological as well as the medical needs of the patient and the need to maintain an environment free from noise and anxiety.


* Competence in the operation of all resuscitation equipment.


* BLS


* Advanced Cardiac Life Support completion. New graduates will complete ACLS within one year of hire.


* Knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring and basic for Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumping.


* Attendance and completion of yearly competency fair.


* BSN


* RI state RN licensure
