Accounting Technician (Accounting Technician II), College of Extended & Global Education - Dean's Office Join to apply for the Accounting Technician (Accounting Technician II), College of Extended & Global Education - Dean's Office role at California State University-San Bernardino Job Summary This position is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of student accounts and ensuring timely collection of accounts receivable. The Accounting Technician II performs all aspects of Accounts Receivable, including account analysis, reconciliations, and collections. Prepares and reviews financial reports, ensures compliance with accounting policies and procedures, and assists with special projects. Responsibilities Review all Accounts Receivable balances. Run monthly A/R reports from PeopleSoft, analyze outstanding account balances for validity. Reconcile and troubleshoot problem registrations and accounts. Set up and maintain monthly collection spreadsheets, compose collection letters for delinquent accounts, record holds on student records. Act as liaison to outside collection agencies and Student Accounts Office (SAO). Assist on special projects as assigned. Reconcile deposits and record bulk deposits in log. Reconciling A/R and revenue account records to general ledger. Liaise with general accounting. Provide customer service support to Student Services and Program Specialists; communicate with students regarding account balances. Post all discounts, adjustments or manual transactions to students' financial accounts. Respond to all declined credit cards and dishonored checks. Process invoicing for the College, including third parties. Maintain invoice records and Accounts Receivable spreadsheet for invoicing. Process all purchase requisitions for the college. Ensure each requisition is complete before submitting to the Procurement Office. Train new employees on requisition requirements. Apply invoices to purchase orders when submitting to A/P. Alternate between primary and backup to distribute daily mail and to pick up and distribute payroll checks to CEGE self-support. Other classification duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Equivalent to three years of progressively responsible financial record‑keeping experience. Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. Required Qualifications Thorough knowledge of financial record‑keeping, mathematical and general office methods, procedures, and practices. Ability to apply accounting procedures and practices to the analysis of basic accounting problems. Analyze and interpret accounting data. Apply problem‑solving techniques in finding solutions to basic accounting problems. Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Use current computer word processing and spreadsheet software programs, web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems, and other records management systems such as student accounting, cashiering and student financial aid; work independently; and make sound decisions and recommendations regarding accounting activities. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration, finance or a closely related field. Knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred. Ability to exercise considerable judgment, initiative and independence to achieve results. Possess verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with students and colleagues. Thorough knowledge of financial record‑keeping, mathematical and general office methods, procedures, and practices. Must demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems and/or other records management systems such as student accounting, cashiering and student financial aid. Work independently; and make sound decisions and recommendations regarding accounting activities. Compensation and Benefits The salary offered will take into account internal equity and experience among other factors. Initial step placement will be CSUEU Salary Step 1: $4,037 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,037 – $5,881 per month (Step 1 – Step 20). The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Position Information Full‑time Non‑Exempt Probationary Academic year schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm), some evenings/weekends. Summer schedule: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am – 5:30 pm), some evenings/weekends.
