Join us in supporting diverse transportation, transit, and environmental projects such as highway and rail bridges, buildings, retaining walls, slopes, pavements, ground treatment of soft soils and subgrades, and utilities. Ideal candidates possess experience in Maryland and/or surrounding states, proactive problem‑solving skills, a solid grasp of geotechnical principles, and hands‑on expertise in geotechnical/pavement design and field operations. You'll collaborate across disciplines, helping to prepare plans and reports for various geotechnical and pavement projects, supervising field explorations, performing design computations, and writing reports and offering recommendations. Essential Functions Assist our geotechnical/pavement design and engineering group throughout Maryland and the Mid‑Atlantic with development and delivery of geotechnical projects, with opportunities to support geotechnical projects in the southeast as well Foster innovative design concepts related to Geotechnical Engineering to enhance project efficiency Serve as Engineer on a variety of geotechnical related projects Develop and oversee subsurface exploration programs Site characterization through field reconnaissance and mapping of geological and geotechnical features as they affect existing and proposed engineered features Surveillance of drilling operations, including logging and classifying soil and rock materials in accordance with applicable logging standards Create logs and geological cross sections, profiles, and maps necessary to convey the subsurface exploration results Prepare design calculations and geotechnical engineering reports Coordinate and collaborate with various civil design disciplines Aid in producing construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates Required Skills And Experience Passion for client service and engineering Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering 1 to 4 years of Geotechnical Design Experience (Mid‑Atlantic experience preferred) Knowledge of Geotechnical and Pavement design methodologies, local DOT requirements, and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications Understanding of the following software: Microsoft Office, gINT, LPile, APile, MSEW, Slide, Settle 3, Slope/w, AASHTOWare Pavement ME, GRLWEAP Excellent written and verbal communications skills Must have a valid driver's license and ability to perform fieldwork on active construction sites year‑round Preferred Skills And Experience MS or advanced degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering preferred EIT certification is preferred and ability to obtain Professional Engineering license within 1‑3 years Experience with gINT, GIS or other geo‑based database management system Other Duties This job description indicates the general nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, abilities and other essential functions (as covered under ADA) expected.
